The Jewish Chronicle Online, in their 6/17/10 article entitled Piers Morgan: I feel at home at Jewish events, reported on Piers Morgan's speech at a luncheon in which Morgan said "I was brought up a good Catholic boy, but now the Catholics don't want anything to do with me. I've been shunned by my own religion which never asks me to do anything. I really am starting to feel at home here and feel like one of the clan."
On 3/16/11, the same outlet listed Morgan in their Jewish Hall of Fame, and noted "The CNN host is enjoying his time in Israel to interview Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu - his first time there."
The Forward, in their article on the the NRA's first Jewish lobbyist, notes that "Jewish support for tougher restrictions on guns is deep rooted" and that the "Jewish community" "vocally supports regulating and limiting those rights."
On 7/23/12, after the Aurora killings, Rabbi Eric H. Yoffie wrote an op-ed in Haaretz which acknowledged that Jews regard the views of gun-control opponants as "abhorrent". Yoffie also said "Americans in general may be divided about gun control, but Jewish Americans are not. They have always been among the most enthusiastic advocates of legislation that will regulate gun ownership in a reasonable way."
In 2011, Rabbi Dovid Bendory, Rabbinic Director of the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership asked 'Do Jewish "Gun Control" Advocates Fuel Anti-Semitism?' and stated "Anti-Jewish rhetoric is increasingly apparent in America. It surfaced recently at some "Occupy" protest locations. " Bendory added "Short of a fanatic, who is going to candidly answer a question from a complete stranger asking if they distrust or hate Jews? No, distrust or hatred of Jews is far more likely to be discussed among friends in closed settings." He also wrote "This is NOT GOOD. The "Jewishness" of "gun control" must be countered. It must be confronted and reversed with immediate urgency" and "Jewish proponents of "gun control" have gained a disturbing prominence and momentum."
Kevin MacDonald of the Occidental Observer recently pointed out that Jews and Jewish organizations lead the gun control campaign.
Democrat Joe Manchin, touted by AIPAC as one of the 'Most Pro-Israel Ever' U.S. Senators, recently stated that he wants to ban and "confiscate" guns of American citizens to "protect the children."
In 2011, the California lawmaker who wrote the bill banning open-carry of handguns in that state had just returned from an Israeli 'political trip' weeks prior:
"Twenty four days after returing from a so-called 'Legislative Study Trip' to Israel with the Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California, the lawmaker decided that no one in California should be allowed to carry a firearm, even if it's unloaded. Repeatedly describing his experience in Israel as "overwhelming", the obese left-winger shared his thoughts in a column he wrote posted on a Jewish website. "I am very glad I joined the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles on the 2010 Legislative Study Trip," he began. Portantino continued, "Interwoven into our trip has been a connection of the religious and historical importance of Israel with the current geopolitical situation in the Middle East. It is very clear to me that most Israelis, like most people, want to live in peace...It has been fascinating, learning the nuances of a parliamentary form of government and its impact on how Israel approaches national security."
In the 1930s, Father Charles E. Coughlin warned people that the Jews funded Communism and the Communists, rabid proponents of gun control, killed millions of innocent people worldwide.
An official White House Spokesman meanwhile has dismissed a petition to deport Morgan, stating "Let's not let arguments over the Constitution's Second Amendment violate the spirit of its First... President Obama believes that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. However, the Constitution not only guarantees an individual right to bear arms, but also enshrines the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press — fundamental principles that are essential to our democracy. Americans may disagree on matters of public policy and express those disagreements vigorously, but no one should be punished by the government simply because he or she expressed a view on the Second Amendment — or any other matter of public concern."
