Perry Farrell is the front man for the rock band "Janes Addiction" and founder of the famed "Lollapalooza Festival". Farrell's real name is Peretz Bernstein, and unbeknownst to most fans, is an ardent Jewish Zionist. He's raised money for the Israeli Army and was slated to hold the next Lollapalooza in Tel Aviv Israel, in August 2013. The festival was planned to take place in Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park, which The Electronic Intifada reports is a "park built over the ruins of the Palestinian village of Jarisha whose residents were forced to flee their homes under attack by Zionist militias in 1948." The 2012 report, entitled Promoter who raised money for Israeli army to hold Lollapalooza on ruins of Palestinian village, covers the depth of Bernstein's zealous involvement in Israeli political affairs.
Although the Israeli venue is cancelled, the show will go on in Chicago. On January 23, 2013, billboard.com reported that organizers of the Israeli event sent a brief facebook message to fans: "Friends, we're sorry," the post, written in Hebrew, began. "Unfortunately, not all events can be predicted and therefore the festival will not take place in the summer of 2013. We continue to work vigorously on all fronts and promise to update [with] any developments as soon as we can."
The L.A. Times noted that "Artists who have booked shows in the region have been subject to protests and pressure to cancel." Many Israeli fans posting on facebook were upset and angered at the abrupt cancellation.
The BDS Movement website, bdsmovement.net, which bears a tagline of "Freedom Justice Equality," states "WHAT IS BDS? In 2005, Palestinian civil society issued a call for a campaign of boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel until it complies with international law and Palestinian rights. A truly global movement against Israeli Apartheid is rapidly emerging in response to this call." [The wikipedia entry on the campaign is here.]
In August 2012, Farrell appeared on CNN outlining his big plans for the music festival in Israel:
"It's like an oak seed," Farrell explained to CNN. "You look at it and go, 'What's the potential of that thing?' Put it in the ground and it starts to sprout it, and it keeps growing, and more and more branches grow out of it."... The 53-year-old musician played Tel Aviv with his band, Jane's Addiction, last September, and if he has his way, Lollapalooza will also put its imprint on another city in Israel. "We got a call from Jerusalem, the Holy City, and they want Lollapalooza to be there, too," he confided. "But it's going to start in Tel Aviv, and we're going to do something in Jerusalem. The mayor's like, 'We want to bring young people, we want to change the perception of Jerusalem.' So we're even talking with them about it."
What's ironic is that Bernstein/Farrell in the past has consorted with a 9/11 truth advocate, happily posing for photos with a man wearing a '9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB' t-shirt, and didn't bat an eye. Bernstein's wife also posed for separate pictures featuring the same shirt, which carries what would ordinarily be considered an extremely offensive message to most Zionists. Perhaps Bernstein's silence is akin to a phenomenon on which Dr. Kevin Barrett reported recently, wherein a 'Zionist Extremist' such as Barry Chamish Concedes Israel's Involvement in 9/11 but exonerates Benjamin Netanyahu.
The man wearing the 9/11 shirt is no stranger to controversy. He's the one and only Greg Johnson, the guy who called George H.W. Bush a "murderous, Zionist piece of shit" in an epic youtube video shot in a Houston pizza place in 2010. The exchange made international news and the U.S. Secret Service came knocking on Johnson's door afterwards.
Johnson sent out the photo of himself and Farrell in 2012 after reading the disturbing article about Farrell, and wants to make clear that although he's a former fan, he is not happy with the newfound information: "I should put together a short video teaching people... "The proper way to burn a Jane's Addiction CD (or any with Perry Farrell)" ... also how to burn posters and permanently delete songs from your computers and mobile devices Then get an Israeli flag to cut up as kindling. :)"
In a LibertyFight.com exclusive, Johnson explained his encounter with Farrell from the perspective of a former fan and Palestinian activist:
"As a longtime fan of Jane's Addiction, it was an honor to meet the so-called man I knew as Perry Farrell after his opening set as Perez in Houston at the end of 2008. Before he stepped back to stage for the after-show DJ set he said he was "obliged to" play, (there were literally only about five people left on the floor) the rock star posed for a photo with me. I usually don't ask musicians for autographs or a picture, but I'm especially glad I did since I was wearing my "9/11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB" shirt. As he walked away I was left with the impression that the days of debauchery were behind him to a great extent, especially when compared to images from his fucked up film "Gift", which I never doubted was a look into his life. Granted they were an opening act, this was very different from the overwhelmingly perverted concerts of Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros I'd seen in the past. Perez included only Perry, his wife and on other musician. There wasn't one unnecessary sex object or cage on stage. What a fool I was to think he had grown past and not more involved with the occult.
"The 9/11 shirt I had on at that show in '08, which till this day is seen as provocative by many, didn't evoke any response from Perez. Considering he put out "Nothing's Shocking" in 1988 and after all is a huge rock star who has had an insane amount of wild experiences, that part doesn't surprise me. But I now wonder if he was laughing inside when he read my shirt; I'd be willing to bet he was thinking "we got away with it, you dumb gentile. (Insert evil laugh)!"
"Although I had been awake to the basic lies and truths surrounding the events of 9/11 at that point, I was not as well versed in the inhumane actions of the Israelis against the defenseless Palestinians. The stranglehold of the zionists and there near total control of media, including of course the music industry, is a subject I had yet to delve into much by the end of that year. That knowledge didn't allude me for much longer and before going to a Jane's Addiction show with a group of friends in 2012 I knew I might see that night's concert in a whole new light. Sure enough it ended up being one of the most vile performances I will ever experience. Most of the dumbed-down audience likely had no idea that they were literally taking part in a highly perverted, demonic occult ritual that night; mock baby sacrifices and all. As a photographer the visuals of the show were too enticing to not capture and the activist side of me wanted to document it all to share and expose the sick reality of the dark side of the music industry.
"One of my first thoughts after that last concert of theirs in Houston was that I should put together a short video teaching others the proper way to burn a Jane's Addiction CD (or any other with Perry Farrell). The video could also show ex-fans how to burn posters and permanently delete songs from computers and mobile devices. I understand the highly occult 'star' symbol on the Israeli flag makes for great kindling. There is no doubt that most of those in the crowd that night including my friends would say i was overreacting by making such a statement. But just how many actually realized what was going on in front of their eyes? Some of my friends never even noticed the blatantly obvious mock-baby sacrifices taking place high above to our right. A very disturbing looking man with what appeared to be nylons on his head proceeded to hang a baby doll from a noose above that platform in the back of the stage before beating a doll against the ground as it flew into pieces. Maybe the parents of JonBenet Ramsey would be drooling with pleasure, but there was nothing pleasant about the act. It sickened me to see all of the devils horns held up in the crowd even though most doing so are clueless to the meaning of anything. That show in 2012 was no doubt one of the most obvious death worship rituals I have ever had the misfortune of stepping into."
Johnson explained meeting the singer at a show in December 2008 in which Farrell, his wife, and bandmate were performing:
At another show featuring Farrell in May 2012, video footage clips garnered by Johnson after the show reveal a shocking mock human sacrifice and viscious baby murder taking place in the background while Farrell peforms. A man on stage with what appeared to be pantyhose over his face tortured a realistic looking "baby" to death as the crowd went wild to the music and flashed devil signs:
LibertyFight: "Im looking at the other pictures. What the #@!$ are those pics, a fake baby hanging from a rope??"
Johnson: "YUP!! He hung and beat baby dolls until their body parts flew off. It was horrific in so many ways. We know musicians put on occult rituals often and not concerts, but this way by far the most obvious satanic ritual I've ever mistakenly stepped into."
LibertyFight: What was he doing? What song was he doing the mock sacrifice to?? What the hell. Did the crowd cheer for this? WOW.
Johnson: "The stageset was done in a way that it was obvious, but obscure at the same time. When I showed friends my photos later they were shocked and said they didn't see it. I think it was meant to be that way. It took place on a very high, elevated, large pillar of sorts with a swing and rope dropping to a little above those. And it was dark up there. The man had something that resembled pantyhose on his head. I don't remember what the crowd did, but again I think they were more focused on the front of the stage where four long-time, well-know, very talented musicians were tearing it up."
Bernstein's wife, an attractive blonde, (pictured at left) takes part in the rituals onstage. Johnson explained, "Yup, that's his wife. She was on stage with him the last time too, but as a sex object, not a musician. Probably not pertinent, but if so I have more from that last ritual."
Johnson stressed his disgust for both the mock baby sacrifices and the death of innocent Palestinians, noting "The last thing I want if for someone to see the photo and believe I like the guy!" Johnson is active with the group JusticeForPalestinians.com, created the logo and Web site for the group and has participated in public outreach, including rallies on the freeway overpass many, many times with the group's signs. He has also been involved as an organizer for HoustonTruth.org for more than five years.
Johnson also has video of a brief exchange he had with Bernstein which occured May 9, 2012, in which he challenged the singer on the official story of Osama bin laden. A bystander aggressively objects that they should only care about listening to music and having a good time, not about "politics". Johnson explains "During the show Perry mentioned that it had been a year since they killed Bin Laden. So a while after the show he was out back with dedicated fans to sign autographs. An ice cream truck pulled up and someone bought him a fudge bomb. When was walking back from the truck I mentioned that Osama died 10 years ago since he had said that BS on stage. He asked if I thought so. He later said we shouldn't talk conspiracies, but the one bitching about it is just a sheeple fan. That clip is edited some for making it easier to e-mail and limit it to the words from Perry and most of what that dumbass said."
Two years ago, the Houston man's confrontation with George H.W. Bush at a pizza restaurant garnered international attention, drawing both accolades and criticism from viewers worldwide.
Johnson, a political activist and former Ron Paul supporter, was at a Houston Pizza place in January 2010 with friends when he had a chance encounter with the former CIA director and one term president. When he saw Bush coming in to Fuzzy's Pizza along with his Secret Service entourage, Johnson went out to his car to retrieve his videocamera. He took the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give the "so-called man" a "piece of his mind".
"You murderous Zionist piece of shit", Greg began on the video, which went viral when he posted it as a youtube clip entitled "How an old Bush can ruin a good lunch".
The incident and subsequent publicity prompted Fox News host Bill O'Reilly to demand Johnson's arrest. The Secret Service visited Johnson at his home the next day, despite the fact that no crime was committed. He videorecorded the interaction with the Secret Service at his front door and spoke with them briefly but refused to turn off his videocam, for his own protection. He reiterated that he was a peaceful man and was no threat to anyone, but the agents did not want to discuss anything at length on camera, so they left. The anti-war activist later commented on his youtube channel, saying "Thank you all for the overwhelming support! It means so very much to me. It is an honor to know I was speaking for millions around the world when I shared my disgust with the so-called man."
To add to the irony of running into Bush at a pizza place, Johnson encountered the ghouls again in April 2012. On Easter Sunday, 2012, Johnson was at the Houston Country Club having a holiday dinner with family when it became apparent that George and Barbara Bush were dining in an adjacent room. Johnson, at the time, released a narrative of what occurred in his e-mail list at HoustonTruth.org. "I was asked to leave the country club because I had words with the Secret Service outside of the room where Bush was sitting," he explained, after he told the men "You guys must be proud to be protecting a mass murderer."
