Fr. Coughlin's New Years Day Message, 1933: Not Despair, But Hope Of 'Understanding The Flagrant Financial Abuse Of The Rothschild System'

On January 1, 1933, Father Charles E. Coughlin broadcast his New Year's Day message to the American people.
He spoke of "the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few, a system of unbridled financial control."
"No longer shall an awakened American public be lulled into inactivity by empty promises which are impotent to contradict present facts," he said. "On the one side shall stand the arrayed and determined forces whose watchword is love. On the other, the entrenched powers of those who believe in exploitation."
"...God wills it!'That is the watchword of the new crusader who is determined to rescue the principle of Christ's charity and brotherhood from the stupid hands of those who have tried to substiutute the doctrines of selfishness and the gospel of greed which have foisted upon us a man-made depression."
"This New Year's day is not a moment for dispair, It is the birthday of a new hope," Coughlin said.
This hope is based on "understanding," Coughlin insisted- understanding of the "flagrant abuse of our financial system"- a "financial system originated by the Rothschilds," he explained.
Coughlin continued "This is also an absolutely religious issue," explaining "Americans in no sense will become imbued with the frenzy of the French Revolution as we press on toward the new era. We shall stand aloof from all teachings of the red Communists and his atheism as we shove aside the devastating influence of the past." He said people must decide "whether or not men shall adopt the principles of Moloch or the Gospel of Christ."
Coughlin continued "Time and time again I have enunciated the principle that money must never be used as a medium of control despite the fact that Rothschilds advocated this very thing. You can't keep that philosophy and be a Christian. Time and time again I have brought before this audience that money must not obstruct the exchange of food and clothing and shelter and the necessities of life, although today every High School boy understands that this very thing is happening."
"It is a blessed thing, my friends, that both you and I have the privilege of living in these eventful days- a privilege, perhaps, which many of us do not appreciate.
I sympathize with your tears and your poverty. I am not heartless when I hear of jobs and positions that are gone, of homes and farms that are confiscate, of industries of retail business and of banks that have fallen victim to the barrage of golden bullets and to the lethal gas of dishonest credit and questionable promises."
"You have been victims in a noble cause, You have been patriots slain on the battle front of a new liberty. But from your ashes as from the tomb of Christ shall arise a civilization more glorious than either poet or philosopher ever dared dream of."
"This New Year's day is not a moment for dispair, It is the birthday of a new hope."
"It is the hope which I have interpreted from the millions of letters received by me from every State in the Union; from every division of its citizenry."
"Upon what foundation is this structure of hope established?" might some ask."
"The answer to that question is brief. It is expressed by the one word 'understanding.'"
"...Associated with the abuse which has crept into mass-productionism is the flagrant abuse of our financial system. The vast majority of bankers are in nowise to be condemned any more than are the majority of honest, upright, courageous men who have become the captains of American industry.
It is simply a case of a system excogiated by the human mind going the way of all things human. Conceived and matured by human intelligence which left itself becomes infiltrated with error, the financial system originated by the Rothschilds has existed for approximately two hundred years until its inherent weaknessses have become so manifest that they can find no place in this new era into which we are passing this blessed day.
Time and time again I have enunciated the principle that money must never be used as a medium of control despite the fact that Rothschilds advocated this very thing. You can't keep that philosophy and be a Christian. Time and time again I have brought before this audience that money must not obstruct the exchange of food and clothing and shelter and the necessities of life, although today every High School boy understands that this very thing is happening.
Any financial system that falls into this error can find no place in the days which are to come.
For the past three years men have been questioning the soundness of our financial structure. When of a sudden it was on the verge of toppling; when of necessity the money of the American citizens, your money and my money, was commandeered by our Government to act as a support to the privately owned banking systems, suspicion began to give way to certitude. Doubts gave way to facts.
The secrets of the inner circles of financiers became dirty linen on the clothesline of publicity."
Coughlin went on to explain how 'The Reconstruction Finance Corporation' was an obscene giveaway to big banks - hundreds of millions of dollars, stolen from the American people and given to bankers. He describes it as "the swan song of a dying system of financial control" and then reads excerpts from an article in Harper's magazine, which included the following quote: "when the The Reconstruction Finance Corporation lent money to one railroad to pay rentals to another railroad, it was in effect using pulic funds to pay dividends to railroad stocholders. A more infensible action could hardly be imagined."
Coughlin continues with his own commentary: "I might pause to interject that these private corporations who have become the greatest beneficiaries of your money and my money are loudest today in decrying the revaluation of the gold ounce; in protesting against the issuance of tax free currency to take the place of the interest bearing Government Bonds."
They do not wish to see the American public save $400-million a year in taxes. Their motives are perfectly and plainly understood.
"...If the The Reconstruction Finance Corporation was the greatest negaive contribution produced in the year 1932, the greatest positive contribution, to my mind, is the encyclical letter of Pope Pius XI.
It is important because without any fear of error, or doubt of judgment, it lays its finger positively upon the cause of the world-wide depression- a cause that must be removed before prosperity can smile upon us again- a cause that will be removed before this generation shall pass away.
Let me read for you an excerpt from this historical document:"
"But, indeed, the root itself from which this most unhappy state of things arises is yet more to be lamented; for if that judgment of the Holy Spirit, proclaimed by the Apostle St. Paul, "the desire of money is the root of all evils," was always in close agreement with the facts, this is more than ever true at the present time."
Coughlin continues "These, my friends, are courageous words to which millions of Protestants, Jews and irreligionists join with Catholics in saying "Amen".
"For the past month it has been my privilege to show, at least in part, a few of the immoralities which have been practiced, pampered and protected by the high priests of greed..
On this subject I do not plan to be silent as I lend my voice to help the citizens of this nation, regardless of creed or of ancestry.
On new year's day, however, let us be satisfied with setting our minds certain on a principle of action and on an attitude unquestionable.
We Americans in no sense will become imbued with the frenzy of the French Revolution as we press on toward the new era. We shall stand aloof from all teachings of the red Communists and his atheism as we shove aside the devastating influence of the past. We shall remember that this is not only a political issue nor only an economic issue which we are facing. This is also an absolutely religious issue. To feed the poor, to clothe the naked, to restore justice to a world of greed, to preach the charity of Christ's brotherhood- projects which the economist has failed to consider- shall become the policies of the American people through a religious motive from this day on.
It is either a case of choosing between the justice and charity of Jesus Christ to which are opposed the modern system of finance which regards money as its medium of control; to an unbridled mass production where machines become more precious than men.
Regardless of the teachings of others, the Catholic Church considers it a vital religious question whether or not gold shall be considered a medium of control; whether or not men shall adopt the principles of Moloch or the Gospel of Christ.
...To wish you, therefore, a happy new year, I am wishing it only on the understanding that it cannot be happy unless first of all you, my friends, determine to substitute Christ's charity for man's individualism; Christ's justice for the world's exploitation; and human rights in preference to industrial and financial rights.
This is the choice- Christ or chaos. May God give you courage to step forth upon the threshold of this new era, keeping your hearts filled with charity and keeping your mind and your will determined that the future belongs to Christ if the past belonged to man.
A message from Martin Hill:
"Coughlin insisted "This is also an absolutely religious issue," explaining "Americans in no sense will become imbued with the frenzy of the French Revolution as we press on toward the new era. We shall stand aloof from all teachings of the red Communists and his atheism as we shove aside the devastating influence of the past." I gotta say folks, I absolutely love this stuff and love Fr. Coughlin's message. It resonates so true with me. I agree that it is indeed a religious battle, as I state on my front page. This perfectly summarizes why I started this website and why I try to fight all the evil and rot in the world and why we have an obligation to expose corruption, as I explain on my Catholicism page. This is why I continue to go through Coughlin's work and write essays documenting this historical treasure trove, included in the Father Charles E. Coughlin Archives page. At the same time, however, I understand and acknowledge that there are a lot of good people fighting for truth and liberty who aren't religious. As Coughlin explains below, when the Apostle St. Paul says "the desire of money is the root of all evils," Coughlin proclaims "These, my friends, are courageous words to which millions of Protestants, Jews and irreligionists join with Catholics in saying "Amen"!
As I explained here, "I believe it is our moral obligation to fight evil and oppression in the world, and to work for good with others who have differing beliefs. As Pope Francis recently stated, "And we all have a duty to do good. And this commandment for everyone to do good, I think, is a beautiful path towards peace. If we, each doing our own part, if we do good to others, if we meet there, doing good, and we go slowly, gently, little by little, we will make that culture of encounter: we need that so much. We must meet one another doing good. 'But I don't believe, Father, I am an atheist!' But do good: we will meet one another there."
As my website turned 7 eight years old this week, I wish you all a blessed, peaceful, happy and prosperous 2015 2016! :-)

Introducing RandPaulZionist.com: Because We Really Need To Do Better In 2016 12/23/14
This site will be a clearing house for Rand Paul Zionist information- keeping a close watch on Randy as he ramps up to his attempted 2016 presidential bid. As someone who heartily supported Ron Paul for president, it's offensive to me that Rand would use his father's support & money base to get elected to the U.S. Senate and then betray his constituents to the degree that he has. Starting with endorsing Romney, slathering at the 'wailing wall,' etc. etc. You may not know that Rand has actually admitted in official Senate speeches that he "meets with Israeli groups daily," a story I broke last year. There are many similar stories in our archives.
I realize that Rand Paul's rhetoric on domestic issues and supposed 'limited government' are better than all the other legislators in Congress. But I believe there is a very serious reason that we as Americans need to reject people like Rand outright, and we should admonish and shame them publicly. The bottom line is that you can promise to 'cut government' all you want, but if you support the maniacal neocon-Zionist foreign policy of giving trillions to Israel and defending Israel at all costs, you're not a friend to Americans or an advocate of peace. Not to mention my good friend Greg from Houston, who made international news in 2010 when he confronted George H.W. Bush in a pizza place and called him a piece of ^%$# Zionist murderer, is helping me with the site. Stay tuned! ;-)
Rand Paul to Ferguson: "Come on guys, you got to wait to have your kids." (Government Meddling in Procreation: Is Rand Paul a Crypto-Eugencist?) 12/1/14
"Birth control is not our business. I cannot imagine anything more emphatically a subject that is not a proper political or governmental activity ... or responsibility," President Eisenhower said in December 1959. Oh how things have changed, with even supposed 'limited government' politicians promoting 'family planning.'
Don't let that cop search your car! (The Supreme Court held that the Fourth Amendment prohibits a police officer from further searching a vehicle which was stopped for a minor traffic offense once the officer has written a citation for the offense.)
"The more one does what is good, the freer one becomes. There is no true freedom except in the service of what is good and just. the choice to disobey and do evil is an abuse of freedom and leads to "the slavery of sin." [CCC 1733]
"Freedom is exercised in relationships between human beings. Every human person, created in the image of God, has the natural right to be recognized as a free and responsible being. All owe to each other this duty of respect. the right to the exercise of freedom, especially in moral and religious matters, is an inalienable requirement of the dignity of the human person. This right must be recognized and protected by civil authority within the limits of the common good and public order." [Catechism of the Catholic Church 1738.].
A 'Mission' lecture series on The Four Last Things: Death, Judgement, Heaven, and Hell: - By Fr. Isaac Mary Relyea
This is an absolute must-hear from my favorite website, AudioSancto.org. I highly recommend this five part series of free audio lectures by this traditional Catholic priest on the most important things which we all will face. (Of course we will experience only three of the four last things, since a person can not go to both Heaven and hell.)
Did you know that the United States government willingly helped slaughter tens of thousands of Catholics in North America only 80 years ago? It was called the Cristero War, a Masonic led slaughter of Catholic freedom fighters. Below is our work documenting the matter. I also highly recommend the excellent film For Greater Glory which was released in July 2012.
Part 1: When the U.S. government supplied ammo & military planes to kill thousands of Catholics 9/18/13
This is an expose on the U.S. government's role in the slaughter of tens of thousands of Roman Catholics in Mexico fighting for their freedom to simply practice their faith. For naive well-intentioned Catholics who believe that we should always trust the government, these documented facts should be a real wake up call. As Archbishop of Baltimore Michael Joseph Curley stated at the time, "Our government has armed Calles's killers!"
Part 2: Admitted Fact: U.S. Govt supplied 10 Million rounds of ammo, 10,000 Rifles, planes & tanks to slaughter thousands of Catholics 10/17/13
LibertyFight.com has further documented many original sources which confirm for the record that the U.S. Government supplied directly from United States arsenals ten million rounds of ammunition, ten thousand Enfield rifles, machine guns, & military aircraft to slaughter innocent Catholics. We found Testimony taken at the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Relations heard in 1920 and the original New York Times newspaper articles reporting the military supplies ordered by president Herbert Hoover.
U.S. Senate Testimony On the Cristero War April 29, 1920 On Thursday, April 29, 1920, The United States Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Relations heard Testimony taken at Washington D.C. Among the many people who testified were Fr. Francis P. Joyce, a Captain and Chaplain in the United States Army, Monsignor Francis C. Kelley, President of the Catholic Church Extension Society of the United States of America, and Catholic nun Mother Elias De Sta Sacto, of the Discalced Carmelite Order. Note that this testimony was taken on April 29, 1920, which proves that the countless abuses, murders and sacrileges enacted upon Catholics by the Mexican and United States Governments began much earlier than 1926 and extended much later than 1929, as is the period commonly referred to when discussing the 'Cristero War.'
"...My friends, have we not learned that modern wars settle no disputes? By this time are we not dissillusioned? Do we not realize that wars are the enemy of democracy? Do we not appreciate that poor men- the laborers and farmers- pay for all wars- pay with their lives or their liberties?"
Fr. Charles E. Coughlin of Royal Oak, Michigan had one of the most popular radio shows in the U.S. during the late 1930's. At his height of popularity, upwards of thirty million listeners tuned in to his radio show each week and he received 10,000 letters per week with a clerical staff of over 100 people. He advocated a sound money system, abolition of the Federal Reserve, a non-interventionist foreign policy, and was a stringent opponent of both Nazism and Communism, which he pointed out was funded by corrupt Jewish interests and international bankers. Fr. Coughlin exposed war-mongers and government propagandists, which made him a real threat to the establishment. He was a devout and influencial priest who stressed the Gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ. The government banned his programs and threatened to arrest and imprison him. I consider Fr. Coughlin one of the wisest and greatest American heros ever. His material is an absolute treaure, a must-see.
His work, in retrospect, was prophetic and still holds true today.
There is a well circulated clip of Fr. Coughlin on stage at an Illinois rally shouting about the treasonous politicians in Congress who refused to oppose the Federal Reserve Bank's control of American money, noting "They're not even Americans, these so-called Democrats and Republicans!" [Father Coughlin speaks against the Federal Reserve.]
An influential critic of president Roosevelt and America's empirical foreign policy, Coughlin became the target of FDR himself, who was temporarily successful in getting Coughlin kicked off the air.
LibertyFight.com has put together seven articles documenting specific aspects of the brilliant and heroic work of Father Charles E. Coughlin. I have compiled hundreds of newsletters, pamphlets, books and recordings written and spoken by this priest who to this day is shamefully and dishonestly smeared as un-American and an 'anti-semite'. In reality the exact opposite is true. A close examination of Fr. Coughlin's work is important for a revealing documented historical perspective. Also, it relates to the situation today because the same war-mongers, bankers and internationalists about to start World War III by getting the U.S. entangled in a completely fraudulent, unwinnable, an unnecessary war in Syria. As the saying goes, there is nothing new under the sun.
I encourage everyone to download Fr. Coughlin's absolutely invaluable books and listen to his recordings. More posts of interest will come in the following weeks and months as time permits. The story of how I came across this great historical figure is here. Resources are at the bottom of this page.
