Retired Congressman Ron Paul recently answered questions from supporters and was asked if he considered the killing of Palestinians in Gaza, funded by the U.S. government, to be "genocide."

Paul responded, in part, "You know I think when you use the word genocide, all of the sudden it becomes a trick and it carries a whole lot of weight... So, uh, I think all the killing has to be categorized in the same place; so when it comes to Gaza, a lot of people are dying in Gaza. And it's a real mess. I believe the people in Gaza are living in prison conditions. They can't go about, there are blockades there, they can't go anywhere, so it's a tragic situation, but to say that the killing that is going on is genocide I think ya know is probably a little bit of a stretch... So I would like to say, I'm not gonna say "yes that is genocide what is going on there". But there's too much killing, and I think the Palestinians have been treated unfairly, and that something, someday should be done about that."

A few weeks ago during another interview, a neocon from newsmax repeatedly pestered Ron Paul, trying to paint him into a corner by demanding an answer as to if Paul considered Hamas the same as al-Qaeda. Paul answered that he did not, and asked "Why is the plight of Palestinians never mentioned?"

In a January 2009 address to Congress, Dr. Paul pointed out that Israel created Hamas, a sentiment which was echoed again just last month on the website of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity: Ron Paul Rewind: Israel Encouraged Growth of Hamas

"As the death toll from the Israel government's air strikes increases and its military prepares for a ground invasion of Gaza that the Israeli government justifies as a response to Hamas hostilities, consider former Rep. Ron Paul's January 9, 2009 speech on the US House of Representatives floor explaining that Israel helped encourage the growth of Hamas to counteract the Palestine Liberation Organization. Paul, RPI's chairman and founder, proceeds to discuss in the speech the similarity between Israel's past actions regarding Hamas and the US Central Intelligence Agency's support for radicalizing Muslims to compete with the Soviet Union."
Rand Paul, in the hopes to become a contender in the 2016 presidential race, has gone to the opposite extreme, seeking Zionist money and votes. On July 7, 2014, Paul issued a press release promoting his Stand with Israel Act (S. 2265). It stated, in part:
Sen. Paul Stands with Israel
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sen. Rand Paul today took to the Senate floor to ask for unanimous consent to pass the Stand with Israel Act. The legislation, S.2265, was introduced on April 29, 2014 and Sen. Paul asked consent of the Senate to pass the legislation on May 1, 2014. The purpose of this bill is to cut off the flow of U.S. taxpayer dollars to the Palestinian Authority if it is allied with Hamas-the same Hamas that murdered two Israeli teenagers and one dual U.S.- Israeli teenager last week.
In 2013 Rand Paul admitted in a speech that he meets with Israeli groups daily (!) and has reinterated endlessly that he believes that Israel is "one friend that never leaves our side, has never wavered". Currently featured on the front page of Paul's Senate website is an Aug. 5th interview where he appeared on FOX News live from an Iowa cornfield, insisting that Israelis don't burn American flags and that he never wanted to cut Israeli aid, but rather wants to cut all aid to Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.

Former Israeli minister Shulamit Aloni admitted in a 2002 interview that Israelis always call Israel critics anti-semitic and that "it's a trick." See the video here: "It's a Trick, We Always Use It." Zionist commentator Ben Stein, an admitted psychiatric patient, accused Ron Paul of being anti-Semitic on live TV in 2009, an affront which Paul angrily characterized as "vicious attack!." In September 2013 Ron Paul ignored pressure from Zionists and delivered a scheduled speech to a Catholic group at what critics described as an 'Anti-Semitic Conference.'

TRANSCRIPT:

Question begins around minute 8:30

Moderator: This is a question from Judy who was a delegate for you. Dr Paul, do you think what is happening in Gaza is genocide funded by the U.S., and what can we do to put an end to the foreign aide of that horror?

Ron Paul: [8:42] "You know I think when you use the word genocide, all of the sudden it becomes a trick and it carries a whole lot of weight. Because you know, nobody talks about the Soviet genocide, the Soviet system killed hundreds of millions of people.

[9:03] Pol Pot killed a significant number of people in his country. Uh, Hitler killed... a lot of people. But when it becomes genocide you know, you know as well, 'we're only gonna kill one certain people , uh you know, and, we'll call it genocide.'

So, uh, I think all the killing has to be categorized in the same place; so when it comes to Gaza, a lot of people are dying in Gaza. And it's a real mess. I believe the people in Gaza are living in prison conditions. They can't go about, there are blockades there, they can't go anywhere, so it's a tragic situation, but to say that the killing that is going on is genocide I think ya know is probably a little bit of a stretch.

But the way Palestinians are being treated, they're being mistreated because they're Palestinians, and that raises a lot of question. But uh, you know a lot of time - there's still a debate over whether Turkey was responsible for genocide against the Armenians, and that's 100 years ago; now I think historically that's very very important but everybody knows the Armenians were killed by .. by the old Turkish system, and not the current Turkish government.

So I would like to say, I'm not gonna say "yes that is genocide what is going on there". But there's too much killing, and I think the Palestinians have been treated unfairly, and that something, someday should be done about that."
