A few months ago while watching TV I accidently came across a music video of a white guy rapper who looked like he was trying to mimic the 90's rapper Eminem. The guy was obviously trying to act and sound black, portraying the contrived 'gangster rapper' schtick. It was quite silly, but what got my attention was when the weirdo made the Catholic sign of the cross in a mockery type manner while sneering, with eerie smoke eminating all over the stage.
So I looked up the song and the lyrics, and learned it was a song combatting 'homophobia' and promoting homosexual activity. How dare anyone have the nerve not to endorse and champion the gays, the rapper cried. And it turns out that the song was pretty darn popular. The song and hype around it promotes the notion that not only is homosexuality not unnatural or a mental disorder as the American psychiatric establishment used to classify it, but rather that homosexuality is the very definition of virtue itself. The song contends that anyone who doesn't wholeheartedly endorse the homosexual lifestyle is 'hateful bigot' who should be scored and condemned.
"SAME LOVE" (read the lyrics) is by Seattle-based rapper 'Macklemore' performing with Ryan Lewis and a young woman named Mary Lambert. It's what's become known as the new "same-sex equality anthem" - a bold, in-your face proclamation. The official youtube video alone has nearly 200 million views. It's a worldwide sensation which appears to have been been literally sold as 'the new virtue.' The songrose to No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 last summer.
The NY Times reported that Macklemore "composed the rap in March 2012 after reading a news article about a teenager who committed suicide after being bullied". He begins singing "When I was in the third grade I thought that I was gay" and about having two gay uncles.
'Same Love' is nominated for Song of the Year along with four other contenders: 'Just give me a reason' by Pink, 'Locked out of heaven' by Bruno Mars, 'Roar' by Katy Perry, and 'Royals' by Lorde. The duo will perform the song live at the Grammys tonight, and will no doubt generate a flood of media coverage in the upcoming week. CNN reported "A song about the joy of thrift shops put Macklemore & Ryan Lewis on the charts, but it's their musical attack on homophobia that's earning Grammy nominations." Aside from song of the year, Macklemore is nominated in six additional Grammy categories.
At least two famous lesbian entertainers have taken up the 'SAME LOVE' cause. Ellen DeGeneres had the performers on her show, and Melissa Etheridge met with them and praised their song too.
In his song, Macklemore viciously attacks religion and Catholicism as if it is homophobic, hateful and the core problem of the world's ills. But in reality the Church's own Catechism states that men and women who have homosexual tendencies "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided." Below are excerpts from the song lyrics as well as the Catholic Catechism on homosexuality.
Similar to what happened during the Phil Robinson fiasco, the future Grammy winner will no doubt cause a frenzy nationwide. Hollyweird and news outlets will get everyone riled up and bickering, with polarized groups biting at each other for weeks. Although I'm not generally a betting man, I'd be willing to put money down and wager that SAME LOVE will definitely win song of the year. As usual, Hollywood will do its best to promote perversity and undermine the traditional family unit, the cornerstone of society. After all, what better way to raise up generations of submissive slaves?
Meanwhile, while the 'gay rights' and 'anti-gay' folks bicker about all this stuff, the economy continues to tank and World War III is on the brink. Surely the 2016 presidential election will obsess endlessly on abortion and gay marriage, as if the GOP cares about either issue. The truth is that the Republicans only use abortion and gay marriage to get sincere people to vote for them. Meanwhile those very voters, purportedly supporting traditional morals, will support a party that champions endless undeclared wars for empire, ridiculous submission to Israel and the Zionist lobby, and a brutally degrading police state.
2. Mary Lambert, a chubby tatooed lesbian, has a pretty voice which melds into the catchy chorus. 'Macklemore' and Lambert sang the song together at the MTV Music Awards 2013.
3. Mary Lambert's official youtube channel features a spin-off song titled 'She Keeps Me Warm (2013 Version)'. 'She keeps me warm' is a line from the chorus of SAME LOVE, but Lambert expands on it and makes an entire new song out of it. The music video, similar to SAME LOVE, features two homosexual young people in a romantic theatrical like story- but this time instead of two boys, it's a masculine looking lesbian girl who works as a busboy.. err, busgirl... flirting with Lambert throughout the video. The two eventually 'hook up' to purportedly find satisfaction. Lambert's vid currently has 2,276,184 views, 44,412 likes, 778 dislikes, and has generated 6,102 comments. The top comment listed is mine, a 5 line excerpt from the Catholic Catechism at Vatican website which has generated 26 comments.
'SAME LOVE' LYRICS (Excerpts)
"I remember doing the math like, "Yeah, I'm good at little league"
A preconceived idea of what it all meant
For those that liked the same sex
Had the characteristics
The right wing conservatives think it's a decision
And you can be cured with some treatment and religion
Man-made rewiring of a predisposition
Playing God, aw nah here we go
America the brave still fears what we don't know
And God loves all his children, is somehow forgotten
But we paraphrase a book written thirty-five-hundred years ago
I don't know
And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
It's the same hate that's caused wars from religion
Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment
The same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins
It's human rights for everybody, there is no difference!
Live on and be yourself
When I was at church they taught me something else
If you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed
That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned
When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless
Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen
I might not be the same, but that's not important
No freedom till we're equal, damn right I support it
Chastity and homosexuality
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
2392 "Love is the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being" (FC 11).
2393 By creating the human being man and woman, God gives personal dignity equally to the one and the other. Each of them, man and woman, should acknowledge and accept his sexual identity.
2394 Christ is the model of chastity. Every baptized person is called to lead a chaste life, each according to his particular state of life.
2395 Chastity means the integration of sexuality within the person. It includes an apprenticeship in self-mastery.
2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.
2397 The covenant which spouses have freely entered into entails faithful love. It imposes on them the obligation to keep their marriage indissoluble.
2398 Fecundity is a good, a gift and an end of marriage. By giving life, spouses participate in God's fatherhood.
2399 The regulation of births represents one of the aspects of responsible fatherhood and motherhood. Legitimate intentions on the part of the spouses do not justify recourse to morally unacceptable means (for example, direct sterilization or contraception).
2400 Adultery, divorce, polygamy, and free union are grave offenses against the dignity of marriage.
"The video is divided into two parts on YouTube. Part I talks about true compassion. Archbishop Sheen says, "Compassion is a sympathy, a pity, an affinity to be wounded when others are wounded. There's always been a right kind of compassion."
In Part II, Archbishop Sheen talks about false compassion in a rather hard-hitting way.
"False compassion which is gradually growing in this country is a pity that is shown not to the mugged, but to the mugger. There are some judges..some social workers (not all), there are sob sisters, the social slobberers who insist on compassion being shown to the mugger, dope fiend, beatnicks, prostitutes, homosexuals, punks. For that today, the decent man is practically off the reservation. This is a false compassion."
"Several radio programmers say surveys of listeners predict the song will continue to rise. "It's been phenomenal," said Tom Poleman, the president for national programming at Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, which operates 850 stations. "Everything we are seeing shows it's going to be another monster hit for them." Macklemore said he composed the rap in March 2012 after reading a news article about a teenager who committed suicide after being bullied. He said he thought the epithets routinely heard in rap music might be partly to blame, and that denying gay adults the right to marry might also contribute to despair among gay teenagers. He also wanted to write a song, he said, to support his two gay uncles and his gay godfather in Seattle, all of whom are in committed relationships.
From the start, the duo intended "Same Love" to have a political impact. Released as a single in July 2012, they offered it as a theme song to groups working to pass Referendum 74, which legalized same-sex marriage in Washington State. Some profits from the single were donated to the advocacy group Washington United for Marriage. In October, Macklemore and Mr. Lewis released a video for the song with a rosy depiction of a gay marriage that political organizers said helped influenced the vote. ...The same month, Ellen DeGeneres, who is gay, invited the duo to perform the song on her show.
"grew up poor in Everett, Wash., was given a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, and went through a period of drug and alcohol abuse, a time, she said, when she was struggling to come to terms with a series of traumas, including a gang rape at 17, and a pattern of molestation by her father when she was a small child."
