The LAPD has announced that they will hold two public meetings this month to discuss the use of officer on-body cameras. With hostility, suspicion and distrust between police and the public becoming more pervasive in recent years, LibertyFight.com applauds this move towards transparency on behalf of LAPD and the Los Angeles City government, I encourage everyone to attend these meetings.

Here is the LAPD press release and details about the meetings.

LOS ANGELES POLICE COMMISSION TO HOLD COMMUNITY MEETINGS TO RECEIVE PUBLIC INPUT ON THE USE OF OFFICER ON-BODY CAMERAS

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers will soon be equipped with On-Body Cameras to record interactions with members of the public. The members of the Los Angeles Police Commission will be holding two public hearings to provide an opportunity for the community to provide input relative to the development of the policy that will govern the use of the cameras by officers.

This will be an opportunity for the public to provide direct input to the Police Commission for their consideration as the policy is developed by the LAPD. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff stated, “We want to hear from the public what they want us to ask the Department as the policy is being developed. Public input is important to gaining and keeping the public’s trust as we use this new technology.

The location and time of the meetings are:
January 14, 2015
6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Green Meadows Recreation Center
431 East 89th Street
Los Angeles, California 90003

January 15, 2015
6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
A.G.B.U. Manoogian-Demirdjian School
6844 Oakdale Avenue
