To sum it up, they say that as Christians we should protect the environment and the gifts that God has bestowed upon us. That is correct, so far so good. They admit they aren't scientists, and that as religious men they seek the common good of humanity and God's creation. But then from there, they obviously take as a 'given' the leftist view of the global warming alarmists and promote the carbon tax agenda. As I reported earlier this year, most conservative Catholics do not fall for this carbon climate change nonsense. [Pope Francis Explains How His Climate Change Encyclical Is Being Written 1/26/15]
To be honest, their rhetoric on all this carbon stuff is tedious and annoying to read. For example, in one of their documents, they state:
" The broader religious community shares a deep conviction that the issue of global climate change presents an unprecedented threat to the integrity of life on Earth..."
Very melodramatic and absurd!
As a Catholic, I wish they would put forth even one third the effort that they do addressing the EPA, Obama and Congress on 'climate change,' and instead put some of that effort into persuading Obama, the Defense Department, and the Secretary of State and Congress to stop all the unjust wars, the genocide, torture, rape of Muslims worldwide, the fracking, the GMO, the poison vaccines, the U.S. police state, and the spying, groping, and endless civil rights abuses which assault our dignity.
Here is their main index page on the matter of climate change, which they Tweeted: http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/environment/index.cfm
"We are excited about the release of Pope Francis' upcoming encyclical on ecology on June 18, 2015..."

And look at this one, they tell people to prepare for the Encyclical by forming a 'Climate Covenant Creation Care Team'! I'm almost afraid to click the link!

Reflection on Climate Change and Environmental Stewardship
Most Rev. Thomas G. Wenski, Archbishop of Miami
Chairman, Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development
From this foundation, I then want to place our dialogue about climate change and the proposed carbon standards within that framework, the framework of a faith-infused approach to stewardship of the environment.
....With this view in mind, we consider climate change generally, and the proposed carbon emission standards specifically. The Church is interested in these matters because of the tradition we just outlined, and because she is what Pope Benedict described as an "expert in humanity," even if she is not a technical expert.
The climate is a good worthy of our study and protection. We know that humans do impact their environment, and can do so with devastating results if not acting with due regard for their activity. The degree of human effect on climate change is hotly debated and has now become, unfortunately, a politicized issue. But we must put aside this polarization in favor of approaches and solutions that serve the common good and preserve the precious gifts entrusted to us.
...With these most vulnerable in mind, I wrote a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency with my brother bishop, Bishop Pates, Chair of the International Justice and Peace Committee, in July of this year. In it, we applauded the concept of a national carbon emission standard, while recognizing the importance of flexibility for the individual states. We wrote: The best evidence indicates that power plants are the largest stationary source of carbon emissions in the United States, and a major contributor to climate change. Power plants have often been located near low-income neighborhoods and communities of color. Air pollution from these plants contributes to health problems, especially in the young and the elderly. These problems include: increased risk of premature death and heart attacks; increased incidence and severity of asthma; and other health effects. These standards would significantly reduce carbon pollution from power plants; they would also reduce particle pollution, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides, which have been linked to important human and environmental health problems.
...I look forward to a robust discussion about the proposed carbon emission standards and the possible next steps as we all endeavor to be good stewards of Godís abundant gifts.
A word about the term "human ecology" as we transition from discussion of our theological roots to consideration of climate change and the proposed carbon emission standards.

EPA Public Hearing
Carbon Pollution Standards for Existing Power Plants
William Jefferson Clinton East Building, Room 1153, Washington, DC
July 30, 2014
Good morning. My name is Cecilia Calvo. I oversee the Environmental Justice Program at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. On behalf of Archbishop Thomas Wenski and Bishop Richard Pates, Chairmen of the Domestic and International Committees of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, I thank you for this important and timely hearing on an issue that clearly affects Godís creation and the entire human family. My testimony draws from a letter sent today by Archbishop Wenski and Bishop Pates to the EPA Administrator welcoming the setting of standards to reduce carbon pollution from existing power plants. The Chairmen support a national standard to reduce carbon pollution and recognize the important flexibility given to states in determining how best to meet these goals. Above all, these standards should protect the health and welfare of all people, especially children, the elderly, as well as poor and vulnerable communities, from harmful pollution emitted from power plants and from the impacts of climate change.
....The bishops speak as people of faith, not as technical experts. They are pastors in a faith tradition that teaches, as Pope Francis recently stated, "Creation is a gift, it is a wonderful gift that God has given us, so that we care for it and we use it for the benefit of all, always with great respect and gratitude." Power plants are the largest stationary source of carbon emissions in the United States, and a major contributor to climate change. And, we know the effects of climate change are borne by the most vulnerable people, whether at home or around the world.
Catholic Bishop's letter to administrator of EPA, 5/29/14
Most Reverend Thomas G. Wenski
Archbishop of Miami
Chairman, Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development I write on behalf of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to address the Environmental Protection Agencyís efforts to develop standards to reduce carbon pollution from existing power plants and thereby mitigate climate change. The USCCB recognizes the importance of finding means to reduce carbon pollution.

Dear Mr. President:
We write to you as leaders representing an alliance of diverse religious traditions including Jewish, Catholic, Evangelical and Protestant groups, concerning your State of the Union address. As senior religious leaders representing these organizations, we value the actions you have taken to reduce carbon pollution and your commitment to address climate change through your Climate Action Plan as expressed in the State of the Union.
We appreciate the comprehensive nature of your Plan and its goal to cut carbon pollution, prepare the United States for climate impacts, and lead international efforts to address global climate change. We also are grateful for your desire to protect Godís creation that you expressed publically prior to announcing the Climate Action Plan. The broader religious community shares a deep conviction that the issue of global climate change presents an unprecedented threat to the integrity of life on Earth and a challenge to values that bind us as human beings.
Global Climate Change A Plea for Dialogue Prudence and the Common Good
A Statement of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
June 15, 2001
As people of faith, we are convinced that "the earth is the Lord's and all it holds" (Ps 24:1). Our Creator has given us the gift of creation: the air we breathe, the water that sustains life, the fruits of the land that nourish us, and the entire web of life without which human life cannot flourish. All of this God created and found "very good." We believe our response to global climate change should be a sign of our respect for God's creation.
The continuing debate about how the United States is responding to questions and challenges surrounding global climate change is a test and an opportunity for our nation and the entire Catholic community. As bishops, we are not scientists or public policymakers. We enter this debate not to embrace a particular treaty, nor to urge particular technical solutions, but to call for a different kind of national discussion. Much of the debate on global climate change seems polarized and partisan. Science is too often used as a weapon, not as a source of wisdom. Various interests use the airwaves and political process to minimize or exaggerate the challenges we face. The search for the common good and the voices of poor people and poor countries sometimes are neglected.
At its core, global climate change is not about economic theory or political platforms, nor about partisan advantage or interest group pressures. It is about the future of God's creation and the one human family. It is about protecting both "the human environment" and the natural environment. 1 It is about our human stewardship of God's creation and our responsibility to those who come after us. With these reflections, we seek to offer a word of caution and a plea for genuine dialogue as the United States and other nations face decisions about how best to respond to the challenges of global climate change The dialogue and our response to the challenge of climate change must be rooted in the virtue of prudence. While some uncertainty remains, most experts agree that something significant is happening to the atmosphere. Human behavior and activity are, according to the most recent findings of the international scientific bodies charged with assessing climate change, contributing to a warming of the earth's climate. Although debate continues about the extent and impact of this warming, it could be quite serious (see the sidebar "The Science of Global Climate Change"). Consequently, it seems prudent not only to continue to research and monitor this phenomenon, but to take steps now to mitigate possible negative effects in the future.

A 'Mission' lecture series on The Four Last Things: Death, Judgement, Heaven, and Hell: - By Fr. Isaac Mary Relyea
This is an absolute must-hear from my favorite website, AudioSancto.org. I highly recommend this five part series of free audio lectures by this traditional Catholic priest on the most important things which we all will face. (Of course we will experience only three of the four last things, since a person can not go to both Heaven and hell.)
Here is Fr. Relyea's website which has several more talks on various subjects: StPiosFriary.com

Did you know that the United States government willingly helped slaughter tens of thousands of Catholics in North America only 80 years ago? It was called the Cristero War, a Masonic led slaughter of Catholic freedom fighters. Below is our work documenting the matter. I also highly recommend the excellent film For Greater Glory which was released in July 2012.|

Fr. Charles E. Coughlin had one of the most popular radio shows in the country in the late 1930's. At his height of popularity, upwards of thirty million listeners tuned in to his radio show each week and he received 10,000 letters per week with a clerical staff of over 100 people. He advocated a sound money system, abolition of the Federal Reserve, a non-interventionist foreign policy, and was a stringent opponent of Communism, which he pointed out was funded by corrupt Jewish interests and international bankers.|
There is a well circulated clip of Fr. Coughlin on stage at an Illinois rally shouting about the treasonous politicians in Congress who refused to oppose the Federal Reserve Bank's control of American money, noting "They're not even Americans, these so-called Democrats and Republicans!" [Father Coughlin speaks against the Federal Reserve.] An influential critic of president Roosevelt and America's empirical foreign policy, Coughlin became the target of FDR himself, who was temporarily successful in getting Coughlin kicked off the air.
LibertyFight.com has put together seven articles documenting specific aspects of the brilliant and heroic work of Father Charles E. Coughlin. I have compiled hundreds of newsletters, pamphlets, books and recordings written and spoken by this priest who to this day is shamefully and dishonestly smeared as un-American and an 'anti-semite'. In reality the exact opposite is true. A close examination of Fr. Coughlin's work is important for a revealing documented historical perspective. Also, it relates to the situation today because the same war-mongers, bankers and internationalists about to start World War III by getting the U.S. entangled in a completely fraudulent, unwinnable, an unnecessary war in Syria. As the saying goes, there is nothing new under the sun.
I encourage everyone to download Fr. Coughlin's absolutely invaluable books and listen to his recordings. More posts of interest will come in the following weeks and months as time permits. The story of how I came across this great historical figure is here. Resources are at the bottom of this page.

"...My friends, have we not learned that modern wars settle no disputes? By this time are we not dissillusioned? Do we not realize that wars are the enemy of democracy? Do we not appreciate that poor men- the laborers and farmers- pay for all wars- pay with their lives or their liberties?"
Fr. Charles E. Coughlin of Royal Oak, Michigan had one of the most popular radio shows in the U.S. during the late 1930's. At his height of popularity, upwards of thirty million listeners tuned in to his radio show each week and he received 10,000 letters per week with a clerical staff of over 100 people. He advocated a sound money system, abolition of the Federal Reserve, a non-interventionist foreign policy, and was a stringent opponent of both Nazism and Communism, which he pointed out was funded by corrupt Jewish interests and international bankers. Fr. Coughlin exposed war-mongers and government propagandists, which made him a real threat to the establishment. He was a devout and influencial priest who stressed the Gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ. The government banned his programs and threatened to arrest and imprison him. I consider Fr. Coughlin one of the wisest and greatest American heros ever. His material is an absolute treaure, a must-see. His work, in retrospect, was prophetic and still holds true today. .
