Is Ben Carson Serving The Same 'Spoiler' Role to Donald Trump as Alan Keys Tried To Do With Pat Buchanan? (1996)

In response to my recent post Ben Carson On Illegal Aliens: "Uh, They Could Stay.", an astute reader writes:
"Carson is the '15 version of Alan Keyes. Keyes was a house boy for Bill Kristol (his Harvard roommate) and stalking horse for the Establishment. He crippled Buchanan in the early primary voting in 1996. I've been looking around for a similar Establishment connection to Carson, and haven't found one yet.

"Keyes joined the United States Department of State as a protégé of Jeane Kirkpatrick. Do a search on Kirkpatrick; she was a Jew and in her youth a member of the Young People's Socialist League. She later joined Empower America, an early neocon think tank. She, along with others, Kristol included, laid the ground work for our nation building foreign policy starting in the Reagan administration & extending into the Bush administration."

In reaction to the latest news of Carson's beating Trump in in Iowa polls, Trump posted a hilarious tweet asking if Monsanto GMO in the corn was affecting the brains of Iowans. On October 22, Trump tweeted: "#BenCarson is now leading in the #polls in #Iowa. Too much #Monsanto in the #corn creates issues in the brain? #Trump #GOP" [See also: CNN: Trump slams Carson amid dipping poll numbers in Iowa.]

Here is a photo of the gaggle of 1996 GOP Primary candidates. Keyes is on the far left and Buchanan is positioned (appropriately) on the far right. Alan Keyes is a black man who claims to be a conservative and who ran in the Republican GOP presidential primary and many other races for various positions. He has never won any elected office, but his claim to fame is that he served as a UN 'diplomat' and the "16th Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs." He held that position from November 6, 1985 to November 17, 1987.

Keyes attended Cornell University and "continued his studies at Harvard University, where he resided in Winthrop House, and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in government affairs in 1972. During his first year of graduate school, Keyes's roommate was William Kristol. In 1988, Kristol ran Keyes's unsuccessful U.S. Senate campaign in Maryland." Keyes earned his Ph.D. in government affairs from Harvard University in 1979.

Wikipedia notes that during the 1996 GOP presidential primary race, "Keyes was also especially critical of Pat Buchanan, once saying during an interview on the Talk from the Heart program with Al Kresta (simulcast on KJSL St. Louis and WMUZ-FM Detroit) that Buchanan had a "black heart." Keyes's entry into the Republican race after Buchanan had secured victories in New Hampshire and Louisiana led many to believe that Keyes was a stalking horse for neoconservative elements in the Republican Party, since Buchanan had been a well-known ardent foe of abortion and had suffered political fallout for bringing abortion and "cultural war" to the center of the public policy debate. Later during the primaries, Keyes was briefly detained by Atlanta police when he tried to force his way into a debate to which he had been invited, and then uninvited. He was never formally arrested and was eventually picked up 20 minutes later by Atlanta's mayor at the time, Bill Campbell."

In 2004 Keyes said that the Iraq war was justified and defended President George W. Bush's decision to invade Iraq. Keyes has actually debated Barack Obama, in an October 2004 Illinois Senate race. [Third Illinois 2004 Senate Debate: Barack Obama vs. Alan Keyes, Oct. 21, 2004.]

The results of the 1996 GOP presidential primary were as follows:
Bob Dole - 9,024,742 (58.82%)
Pat Buchanan - 3,184,943 (20.76%)
Steve Forbes - 1,751,187 (11.41%)
Alan Keyes - 471,716 (3.08%)

Wiki notes that in the 1996 race, "Former Congressman and Cabinet secretary Jack Kemp was nominated by acclamation as Dole's running mate the following day. Republican Party of Texas convention delegates informally nominated Alan Keyes as their preference for Vice President." {[LibertyFight notes that Kemp is an admitted freemason, for what it's worth.]

In the 2000 GOP presidential primary, Keyes and Buchanan both ran again, but Buchanan withdrew on October 25, 1999 to run for the Reform Party nomination.

Wikipedia's profile of Keyes continues:

"A year before completing his doctoral studies, Keyes joined the United States Department of State as a protg of Jeane Kirkpatrick. In 1979, he was assigned to the consulate in Mumbai, India.[20] The following year, Keyes was sent to serve at the embassy in Zimbabwe. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan appointed Keyes as Ambassador to the United Nations Economic and Social Council. In 1985, he was appointed Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations, a position he held until 1987. His stay at the UN provoked some controversy, leading Newsday to say "he has propounded the more unpopular aspects of US policy with all the diplomatic subtlety of the cannon burst in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture." He also served on the staff of the National Security Council.

At a fundraiser for Keyes's senate campaign, President Reagan spoke of Keyes's time as an ambassador, saying that he "did such an extraordinary job ... defending our country against the forces of anti-Americanism." Reagan continued, "I've never known a more stout-hearted defender of a strong America than Alan Keyes." In 1987 Keyes was appointed a resident scholar for the American Enterprise Institute. His principal research for AEI was diplomacy, international relations, and self-government.

The Buchanan/ Keyes Trump/Carson comparison is a very interesting analogy!

There is nothing new under the sun.

UPDATE: This is rich! The very guy who I referred to above, Bill Kristol, who was Alan Keyes college roomate and ran Keyes failed Senate campaign, is indeed shilling for Ben Carson!
Arch-Neocon PNAC Founder Bill Kristol Shilling for Ben Carson & Attacks Trump, Becomes A Trump Twitter Troll
Arch neocon Zionist Bill Kristol, publisher of the war-mongerng rag 'The Weekly Standard' and co-founder of Project for the New American Century, (PNAC), is aggressively attacking Donald Trump at every chance he gets. PNAC is the group that called for a 'new Pearl Harbor' to justify their empirical foreign policy ideals, less than one year prior to 9/11. Kristol is also shilling for pro-vaccine warmonger Dr. Ben Carson, who is the 2015 version of black Republican gatekeeper Alan Keyes. Keyes, you might recall, ran against populist America-first candidate Buchanan in the 1996 and 2000 GOP presidential Primaries, and often viciously attacked Pat Buchanan, even saying that Pat "had a black heart." Not coincidentally, Alan Keyes was Bill Kristol's college roommate, and Kristol helped run Keyes first Senate campaign. Ben Carson is indeed the 2015 version of Alan Keyes, and Kristol is their head cheerleader.

I have almost 9 million views on my youtube channel. But this video, with only 6,400 views, is still my absolute favorite. Be sure to watch this powerful video of a man who was shot by cops, charged with attempted murder of a police officer, spent 2 years in prison and was aquitted of all charges by a jury of 12, without a lawyer, representing himself! "Try to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness; rather expose them, for it is shameful even to mention the things done by them in secret; but everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that becomes visible is light. The Ron Paul Bumper Sticker Is Still On My Car (Tearjerker tribute vid ;-)
Just for fun. This is a vid I made in 2008 after his campaign ended."remember the good times. A tribute to Dr. Paul and all his supporters who fight for freedom. Keep up the good work everyone!"
Several people at the time told me that this made them cry. ;-)

[The background story of the video, and my introduction to Ron Paul (from my dad when I was a kid) , along with my dad and my trip to the first Ron Paul meet-up in Pasadena, California - a meeting which was featured in the New York Times (they falsely mis-characterized the entire meeting by the way, and claimed that there were a bunch of jew haters there when none of that is true! No one even mentoned Jews at that meeting.) is here.
