41-year-old Orlando, Florida ex-con Markeith Loyd is charged with triple murder in separate incidents. First he allegedly murdered his pregnant ex-girlfriend, and then when a black female police officer tried to aprehend him at a Wal-Mart, prosecutors say he murdered her too.

Police say that Loyd killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend, 24-year-old Sade Dixon on September 13, 2016 at her Orange County Florida home. When Loyd banged on her front door that Tuesday, Dixon opened the door for him and he shot her, and then shot her brother when he tried to help. The brother survived. Dixon had two other children, aged 5 and 7 years old.

Additionally, a motorcycle officer was killed in the direct aftermath of the police killing, when he got into an auto accident. Loyd has not been charged in that death.

Loyd had spent four years in prison previously for "battery on a police officer" and "resisting arrest with violence," and was released in 2002.

Loyd is representing himself and is using the so-called 'sovereign citizen' defense.

After an initial profanity-laced court appearance in January during which he swore for 5-minutes declaring his innocence and told the female judge "fuck you," (video below) at a hearing yesterday March 1, Loyd told another judge "For the record I wanna state that I am Markeith Loyd, flesh and blood human being. MARKEITH LOYD, in all capital letters, that's not me. That's a corporation that was created at my birth that I do not accept. That's not me."

"It's oftentimes misguided, but it's not the first time the court has heard that position," Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Frederick Lauten told Loyd.

"For the record, I want to state that I am Markeith Loyd. Flesh and blood. I'm a human being. I'm not a fictitious person. I'm not a corporation," Loyd said.

The Orlando Sentinel reported,

As he asked whether Loyd understood that he has the right to an attorney, Loyd brushed him off. "I don't care, I'm representing myself," he said. "There ain't nothing you all can do to me, nothing this courtroom can do to me. Worst thing that happened to me already happened... Strap me up right now."

... He told Loyd they will have to communicate effectively if he wants to act as his own attorney and asked him to respect courtroom decorum after Loyd said he did not "give a [expletive]" about what the court does.

WFTV reported,

"I want to use my UCC financial statement, my number, to write these charges off," said Loyd.

"Do you please guilty, not guilty or no contest," asked Chief Judge Frederick Lauten.

"I came here to do, do business in this courtroom," Loyd said.

Loyd also wrote the judge a letter scrawled with convoluted legalese, here.

Loyd apparently lost an eye when he was captured by police and now wears an eye patch. He told reporters "they beat me up" when he was being escorted by police after his capture, which was also captured by a news helicopter (video below.)

In the first video below, Loyd is seen jibbering to the judge "Does anyone have a claim? Do you have a claim against me? Will you state your name for the record?" as his victim's family watched the charade "in stunned silence."

The second video is the full hearing, over 37 minutes.

The City of Orlando Police Department issued a press release about the case on January 09, while Loyd was still on the lamb:

Fallen OPD Officer Update January 9, 2017

This information is meant to recap what has already been released on Twitter or in the news conference this morning, Monday, January 9.

At 7:17 a.m., Orlando Police Department (OPD) Master Sergeant Debra Clayton radioed in to say that she was attempting to contact a murder suspect at the Walmart at North John Young Parkway and Princeton Street.

Two minutes later, officers radioed in to say that an officer had been shot. Dispatch immediately broadcast a call for help. The first responding officers on scene began CPR. Master Sergeant Clayton was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at approximately 7:40 a.m. Master Sergeant Clayton is married and has one child. She has been with OPD since May of 1999, and was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in 2016.

The suspect in her shooting death, Markeith Loyd, is wanted for the December 2016 murder of a pregnant woman in Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) jurisdiction.

Loyd was spotted today fleeing in a vehicle from the OPD scene at the Princeton Avenue Walmart, by an OCSO Deputy. The deputy saw Loyd at North Lane and Pine Hills Drive. Loyd pulled into a nearby apartment complex and fired at the deputy (Attempted Murder on an LEO), striking his unmarked OCSO SUV twice. The deputy was not harmed.

Loyd then carjacked a vehicle and fled again. He later abandoned that vehicle near the intersection of Rosemont and Cinderlane Parkway.

A manhunt remains under way. A $60,000 reward is being offered through Crimeline for information leading to Loyd’s capture (Crimline 800.423.TIPS).

Tragically, OCSO also lost one of its deputies this morning when the motorcycle Deputy was struck by a motorist. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

OPD's chaplains have been dispatched and are available to any OPD personnel who wish to talk or pray with them, and the City of Orlando’s very comprehensive Employee Assistance Program is available to anyone who needs it.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina wants to assure the community that the safety and security of our residents and visitors is the Department’s top priority, and that OPD officers continue to work tirelessly, not just to catch this murderer who is at large, but to ensure that everyone remains safe. He also wants to thank the community for the outpouring of support and prayers that have come in through emails, phone calls and social media.

Markeith Loyd is considered armed and extremely dangerous. We are asking the public to assist us with his whereabouts by calling 911 or Crimeline at 800.423.TIPS. Do not approach him directly.

The last time an Orlando Police Officer was killed in the line of duty was October 4, 2007, when Officer Al Gordon was gunned down in a robbery near an automated-teller machine at Silver Star and North Hiawassee roads, not far from his home.

"Do you have a claim against me? Will you state your name for the record?"
