Ron Paul Campaign Classic: 'Peaceful' Elvis Impersonator Knocked To The Ground By Cops & Arrested For Jaywalking Outside GOP Debate
By Martin Hill

In front of hundreds of Ron Paul supporters, Elvis was arrested. It occurred outside the Ronald Reagan Library During the Republican CNN Debate Wednesday, January 30th, 2008.

Jackboots were out in force 'protecting the public' at Reagan Library in Simi Valley. Elvis, a jovial fellow who carried a sign that read 'WHO WOULD ELVIS BOMB?' among Ron Paul supporters, was knocked to the ground by police in the crosswalk after the light had changed, handcuffed, and taken to a squad car by Simi Valley police. The crowd then started shouting "let him go, let him go!" The cop responded defensively to the crowd by repeating 'he was jaywalking'. The crowd shouted 'FREE ELVIS' as the squadcar took him away. (not a joke).

There were also about 8 persistant Huckabee supporters, and a dozen Romney supporters there outside the GOP debate.

Shortly before being arrested, Elvis had walked past the officers gathered in the background and had some sort of conversation with them.
