"The moral and constitutional obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people." - Congressman Ron Paul, M.D.

I support Congressman Ron Paul for president because he defends the freedom of every individual and upholds the U.S. Constitution. We've had enough of these elitists and authoritarian warmongers in office to last all our lifetimes. Kick the bums out, and elect a true statesman for president.

Since before I could vote, we've had a trail of Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton. What is wrong with this picture? In a nation of 300 million people we can only manage to find two families who want to 'rule the roost'? Sounds eerily similar to a third world despotic oligarchy. We don't need a bush or clinton in the white house ever again. (See more on the 'cozy' Bush / Clinton relationship here). Polls show that the American people want a change. They are dissatisfied and distrustful of government. The majority of people oppose this undeclared war in Iraq and want us out. America is not an empire, and nation building is not the proper role of a free constitutional republic. Republicans, Democrats and Independents are learning about Ron Paul and supporting his candidacy. Check out his track record, and read articles by Dr. Paul. I think you'll find that he deserves your support!

"The original American patriots were those individuals brave enough to resist with force the oppressive power of King George. I accept the definition of patriotism as that effort to resist oppressive state power. The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state. Resistance need not be violent, but the civil disobedience that might be required involves confrontation with the state and invites possible imprisonment." Congressman Ron Paul

Ron Paul Supporters Make History with $6 Million Online Haul

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul made history Sunday by raising $6 million in online contributions in 24 hours, breaking the record for the most money raised by a national candidate in a single day, and potentially putting Paul on track to surpass the fourth quarter fund raising of all of his competitors in both parties. "I just think it's extraordinary," says Anthony J. Corrado, a campaign finance expert and professor of government at Colby College in Maine. "In my view, I expect that Ron Paul will raise more money than any other candidate this quarter. At this point, his main competition will be (Mitt) Romney's checkbook."

On Tea Party Anniversary, Ron Paul Raises Millions
Washington Post

Rep. Ron Paul, whose rock star status on the Internet has singlehandedly fueled his campaign, is poised to break another online fundraising record.
His own.

On Nov. 5, which was Guy Fawkes Day, a symbol of rebellion in British history, Paul hauled in $4.3 million in 24 hours -- the most money raised online by a candidate in a single day. Today, the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, the day that helped spark the American Revolution, Paul's Web-savvy, intensely loyal supporters planned another "money-bomb." And by 6 p.m. EST, the "Paulites" had raised $4.1 million from more than 30,000 donors, bringing the Texas Republican's fundraising total this quarter to $15.8 million. And counting.
His opposition to the Iraq war sets Paul apart from the rest of the GOP field, the Paulites say, and his fiscal conservativism and fiercely libertarian, live-and-let-live views, have attracted independents, Republicans and Democrats. Though he's yet to break into double-digits in various national and state polls, he recently placed fifth among Republicans in a survey by the Concord Monitor, polling ahead of former senator Fred Thompson and behind former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

Zogby: Ron Paul Will Surprise You
Ron Paul: He's going to do better than anyone expects. Look to Paul to climb into the double-digits in Iowa. Why? He's different, he stands out. He's against the war and he has the one in four Republicans who oppose the war all to himself. Libertarianism is hot, especially among free-market Republicans and 20-somethings. And he's an appealing sort of father figure. He's his own brand. All he needs to do is beat a couple of big names in Iowa, then New Hampshire is friendlier territory. After all, the state motto is "Live Free or Die."

The New York Times has just issued a retraction to their piece a few days ago attemting to link Ron Paul to white supremacists. They admit that the piece "should not have been published."
I hope their retraction gets as much attention as their original post did.

U.S. Troops in Iraq: 72% Say End War

Updated Iraq Survey Affirms Earlier Mortality Estimates
October 11, 2006

As many as 654,965 more Iraqis may have died since hostilities began in Iraq in March 2003 than would have been expected under pre-war conditions, according to a survey conducted by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Al Mustansiriya University in Baghdad. The deaths from all causes - violent and non-violent - are over and above the estimated 143,000 deaths per year that occurred from all causes prior to the March 2003 invasion.

Ron Paul Leads Military Donations Race
Outside the beltway

Ron Paul is leading all candidates in donations from current military employees, the Houston Chronicle reports. Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, the congressman from the Houston area who opposes the Iraq war, has gotten more contributions than any other White House contender from donors identified as affiliated with the military. According to a Houston Chronicle analysis of campaign records from January through September, Paul received $63,440 in donations from current military employees and several retired military personnel. Democrat Barack Obama, another war critic, was second in military giving. The Illinois senator got $53,968 during the nine months.

Police State America - A Look Back and AheadYear end is a good time to look back and reflect on what's ahead. If past is prologue, however, the outlook isn't good, and nothing on the horizon suggests otherwise. Voters last November wanted change but got betrayal from the bipartisan criminal class in Washington. Their attitude shows in an October Reuters/Zogby (RZ) opinion poll with George Bush at 24% that tops Richard Nixon's worst showing of 25% at his lowest 1974 Watergate point. And if that looks bad, consider Congress with "The Hill" reporting from the same RZ Index that our legislators scored a "staggering 11%, the lowest (congressional) rating in history," but there's room yet to hit bottom and a year left to do it. Why not with lawmakers' consistent voter sellout and failure record that keeps getting worse.

TEA PARTY 2007 Santa Monica Pier, 12/16/07

All Americans should take interest in government
In an age of concerns about the eroding of Americans' rights by our government and the courts, it is appalling to hear of a newly-declassified document that outlines former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover's plan to illegally detain and arrest up to 12,000 Americans he suspected of being disloyal. Hoover sent his controversial plan to then-President Harry Truman in 1950, but there is no evidence to suggest the proposal got any farther. The names of those who would be detained had been compiled by Hoover over several years, according to a report in the New York Times. The plan was among a collection of Cold War-era documents recently declassified. It is almost unthinkable that Hoover's plan got as far as it did. It is further evidence of the need for all Americans to take an interest in what their government is doing and to be vigilant and outspoken when our so-called leaders try to do an end run around the Constitution.

The End of America?
By Jacob Laksin
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, December 27, 2007 The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot, by Naomi Wolf (Chelsea Green Publishing, 192 pp., $19.95)
For the existential threat that she has in mind isn't the Islamic terrorism that murdered nearly 3,000 Americans in one day and untold thousands across the globe. Rather, it is a supposed "fascist shift" that has seen the United States become the heir to Hitler's Germany, Mussolini's Italy, Stalin's Russia, and indeed just about any other despotic regime that Wolf's Dictatorship for Dummies reading of 20th century history can turn up. Her book, an expanded version of an April 2007 essay she wrote for the London Guardian titled "Fascist America, in 10 Easy Steps," is written as a "letter of warning" to all who are prepared to defend civilization against the advance of this American fascism.

...A Long Island mother, for instance, was forced to drink her own breast milk from three bottles of breast milk prior to boarding the plain at JFK. Other adult passengers have been forced to drink baby formula. In Benito Mussolini's era, one intimidation tactic was to force citizens to dink emetics and other liquids. German S.S. men picked this up: They forced Wilhelm Sollmann, a Social Democrat leader, for instance, to drink castor oil and urine. Of course baby formula is not an emetic. But a state agentforcing a citizen to ingest liquid is a new scene in America.

The Ron Paul phenomenon: How a Republican presidential campaign caught fire in San Francisco
Thursday December 27, 2007

San Franciscans rarely get excited about Republican presidential candidates, and it's rarer still to see GOP campaign signs in Mission District windows, beat-up old cars, or crowds of enthusiastic supporters flooding the city's streets. But that's what Ron Paul has been inspiring.

"I would give my entire net worth to see Ron Paul elected president," a man holding a "Ron Paul '08" sign on the corner of Powell and Geary on Dec. 16 said. "I've never contributed to a candidate's campaign in my life, but in the past months I've given about $600 or $700."

Paul's frank assessment of the United States as an overreaching empire got his campaign rolling, and it has gathered serious momentum in the past couple of months, as evidenced by an increasing online presence and record-breaking fundraising for November and December

Can Ron Paul go mainstream?
by Jason George
Baltimore Sun

This raises the question: could Paul end up in the top three? Its widely expected that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will be the top two vote-getters, but could Paul ace out better-known candidates like former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Arizona Sen. John McCain?
